Easy installation of the magnetic wooden world map XL
To create a floating effect on the wall, the wooden world map XL is supplied with spacers about 1 cm thick. Of course you will also receive an installation instruction, so everyone can place the map on the wall with ease. Using the included template, you’ll know exactly where to attach which part to the wall. This can be done with screws and/or mounting adhesive. You also get the necessary screws and plugs. If you want to attach the parts directly to the wall, you can do that too. This can be done with double-sided tape or mounting kit / mounting adhesive. Just know that the tape just doesn’t hold so well on a wall with structure.
Equipped with 10 neodymium magnets, extra magnets can be ordered too.
Ten magnets are included with the wooden world map. These are extra strong neodymium magnets that stick well to your world map. You can even attach a photo of, for example, your most beautiful trip, onto your world map. If ten magnets are not enough, you can always order extra magnets. You can find them here. Please note that the common tourist magnets aren’t strong enough to stay stuck on your world map. If you still want to use them, put extra neodymium disc magnets in between. The magnetic wooden world map XL is available in sizes 140 by 70 cm (about 55 by 27 inches), 160 by 80 cm (about 63 by 32 inches) and 180 by 90 cm (about 71 by 35 inches) with a thickness of 9 mm (about 1/3 inch). Frequently asked questionsHow do I install the wooden world map onto the wall?With the world map you will receive a live size poster with instructions on how to attach the various parts onto the wall. The poster is attached to the wall with masking tape on the spot where you would like your world map to be. With the aid of a level you can check if the poster is perfectly straight. On the poster, each continent or island has markings for where you place the spacers onto the wall. The markings are already cut in the poster, so the exact spot where the parts go is easily determined. With the world map you will receive a set of spacers in different sizes, marked with a numbercode corresponding to the numbers on the poster. You can either attach the larger spacers onto the wall by drilling holes or by gluing them with a mounting adhesive. The latter works well on walls with a smooth finish or wallpaper. The smaller spacers are glued to the wall with mounting adhesive. Let the spacers dry well before gluing the continents and islands onto them with mounting adhesive. TIP 1: It is advisable to use masking tape on the parts to hold them in place while the adhesive is drying. After a few hours, when you are sure the adhesive is set, you can gently remove the tape again. TIP 2: If you wish to install the world map without the spacers, you can place the continents and islands directly onto the wall with mounting adhesive. If you have a wall with a smooth finish, you can also use doublesided adhesive tape. This can easily be removed, but is less stable than mounting adhesive and therefore not advisable on walls with a rough finish.                    How can I reinstall the world map when moving or refurbishing?It is certainly possible to reinstall the world map when you are refurbishing or moving to another home. Carefully pry off the continents and islands from the wall. If spacers should break, then it is possible to order a new set of spacers. A new poster with installation instructions will come in handy too. Simply contact us for this.  How do I interpret the dimensions of the world map?The dimensions of the world map are in the proportions as follows: width x height is 2 x 1. The width is measured from the western most tip of Alaska to the eastern most tip of New Zealand and from the northern most tip of Greenland to the southern most tip of South America.  How do I determine what size of world map best fits on my wall?We will be delighted to help you choose the right size for on your wall. If you have any doubts about what size fits best, you can make a photo of the wall onto which the world map will be mounted. Make a full frontal picture and make sure the entire wall is shown. Send us this photo per email (several photos may even be better in some cases) and note the height and the width of the wall in the email. We will then make a photo impression of the various sizes on your wall, free of charge. You will discover right away which size is the best for your interior.    I am not sure about the colour. Can you help me choose the right colour for my world map?We will gladly help you with the choise of colour for you wooden world map. Just email us a photo of the wall where you would like to hang the world map and some photos of your interior, for example the colour of your floor or the furniture. The best results you get when the photos are made during daylight. Give us an indication of which colours you are thinking of, and we will then make a free impression of the different colours of the world map on your wall. You will then be able to determine at a glance which colour suits best in your interior. When you also mention the dimensions of your wall, we can also scale the world map to the right size.
